Envious of Her Passion

Journal Entry: Sat Jun 20, 2009, 8:17 PM
Hmm, so I've been watching Valkyria Chronicles for a while now...and since I liked the intro song to it, I decided to watch the PV to the song (Asu e no Kizuna by Himeka.) To my shock, I saw a French-Canadian woman singing to the song. O_o So I decided to find out more about this Himeka person since I had no clue about her.

Well, it's an amazing story - - one that anyone can take and learn from.

Her story of her success in one simple youtube video -> [link]
Here's a link to the general information about her (AKA, her wiki) -> [link]

You can label her a weeaboo, I guess...but I'm not one to judge and label people by names, ignoring other factors of a person. Personally, I particularly find nothing wrong with someone finding such fascination in a culture that they want to be part of it (the ones that actually learn about it with hard-earned sweat and work.) But, if you read the wiki, you'll be able to see how much this woman worked for her dream. Indeed, it's true that her dream is rather simple and doesn't gain enough profit for her to live off of...but it's her dream; nothing less, nothing more. (I understand that because I want to create comics with amazing stories for people to enjoy...and even if that won't profit enough for me to live off of it, it's a dream that once I achieve, I'll be happy with forever.) Listening to her singing, especially when she was singing for the contest, I can really hear the passion and love she puts into her singing - - so much passion and love that it makes me rather envious of her since I cannot do the same with my art. ^_^;

But what else...she could only speak French at first. Growing a love for Disney and wanting to sing and understand the songs in their movies, she taught herself English. Now having the love for Anime and their songs that accommodate with them, she's now teaching herself Japanese to better understand it and pronounce it. The fact that she reached out to learn other languages (mind you, it's very, very hard,)simply for her singing tells me just how much passion and love she has for singing. The best part of her story is that...after such hard work towards her dream, traveling on a long, long road that doesn't seem to end, she finally achieved it at the age of 27 (and, woot, I didn't think she was that old!) Truly inspiring. It comes to show that hard work truly does pay off and that, even though giving up is easier, the true reward awaits further down.

This woman reminds me of myself...starting off with not much talent but finding love for one thing and working asses off to get better and better at it while looking around and finding those who are naturally better. And in doing so, working hard to catch up to their level. *sigh* Her passion and love for singing gave me a wake-up call for my love for drawing comics.

I've always thought of drawing comics as a duty of mine on earth. You know, creating amazing stories to have others read them to gain more understanding and awareness of the world around them. When I was little, I used to draw it because it was fun, and it let me have my way with my imagination. However, after getting obsessed with improving, drawing slowly transformed into a duty instead of something I did for fun - - something I did out of passion and love. I soon forgot and lost that feeling of passion and love when I did my art and...I think this story really helped me "wake up" upon my mindset about drawing comics. Being a realist instead of a dreamer...geez, I missed the days when I was a dreamer. The feeling was much more inspiring than thinking, assuming, and accepting the reality that brought upon me both good and bad fortune on a constant basis.

Thanks, Himeka, for inspiring me to realize this. ^_^

Oh! And this has nothing to do with me creating stories for my comics. Here's my tip for creating great stories...and that is to be inspired by life itself. ;) If you really want to create a great story, you have to observe your own and other people's lives, expand your understanding of life in general (that means lots of science), and try to learn all the sides of humanity no matter how good or bad they are. That way...you can build a world with characters who people can closely relate and understand. After all, everything doesn't happen without reasons. Hope the tip helped. :D

Also...sorry for the long post...but I felt like I had to express this for some reason. ^_^;

hello I am me another time wanted to know if please can you give to me more url of zed and roya because when i looking for in Google doesn't appear me much thank you for all
*Response from my Journal Entry*

It's been a while since I've requested something for you. I don't have a very specific idea of what the character would be like though. All I can muster up is an image of a red-haired woman that's a mix of Carmen Sandiego and Dante (from Devil May Cry) and wears all red. If you need any reference images, here's a couple of links:

Carmen Sandiego:

Hopefully this won't be too challenging but I didn't want you to just spend a few minutes on drawing something that you wouldn't be inspired to draw. Also, feel free to add your own flavor to the idea if you feel what I gave you wasn't enough.
